Recycling Program - the Palatine Lions Club

The Palatine Lions Club’s main focus is the recycling of used eyeglasses and hearing aids. All collected items are forwarded to the Lions of Illinois Foundation. Eyeglasses are sorted, sanitized, categorized, and made available through our Lions of Illinois Foundation to people that travel to third world countries on medical missions. Hearing aids are sorted, sanitized, and refurbished for use by people in financial need.

Our Club, in conjunction with the Lions of Illinois Foundation, collects used cellular telephones, keys, and ink jet cartridges. The proceeds from these items are used to support other Lions of Illinois Foundation programs that assist people in the Palatine community, as well as throughout the entire state of Illinois. Some of the programs are Low Vision clinics for severely sight impaired children, Macular Degeneration Screenings, Infant Screenings, and the Mobile Hearing Screening units. All items for recycling may be dropped off at any of our collection boxes located throughout Palatine.

We gladly accept the following for recycling: Used Eyeglasses, Used Hearing Aids, Keys, Cellular Telephones, and Ink Jet Cartridges. Please drop them into any of our collection boxes.

We also have an aluminum tab recycling program whereby the money raised from these collections goes toward sending sight and hearing impaired children to Camp Lions. (Please call for pick up of these items. They should NOT be deposited in the collection bins.)
